Michael began his military journey in 1988, enlisting as a 13F Forward Observer. Between deployments and training, he also worked as a bartender while hustling on both fronts until his honorable discharge in 1996.
After leaving active duty, he jumped into entrepreneurship, building and running a successful mortgage, real estate, and insurance company for over 13 years. In 2008, after selling his businesses, Michael shifted gears and served as a police officer in Hickory, NC. During that time, he also completed his degree and later rejoined the military through Officer Candidate School, commissioning in 2012.
As a commissioned officer in the North Carolina Army National Guard, Michael specialized in logistics and spent years helping fellow service members and their families transition into civilian employment. He later worked at the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, VA, where he served in multiple roles as Contracting Officer Representative, Program Manager, and Analyst and earned his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Michael has deployed two times (both OCONUS) and brings real-world operational and leadership experience to everything he does.
Today, he lives in Annapolis, MD, and helps small businesses secure the funding they need to grow—from startup capital to working capital loans—and navigate the complex world of federal government contracting.
